I have version 6.2.0.2982 from February 2013 according to the info there is a later version 6.7.1893 from May 2014. Why can't I download it, the page seems to refresh when I click the download button?

I think you are confused because the latest version of Eraser is 6.2.0.2982 and it has been released on the following date: 2018-01-03. You should continue using the version that you have until the new one will be released.
I've also checked the SourceForge website (where the packages were stored) and still the 6.2.0.2982 version was listed there as well.
The answer is no. Even if you manage to remove the overwritten files, you will not be able to recover or access the old files. This is the way Eraser works: overwrite old files with new content to make recovery impossible.
Currently, the latest stable version is 6.0.10.2620 and latest nightly build is 6.1.0.2946. On the other hand, Informer shows that there is version 6.7. Why is that?
